Published observations are collected from primary official sources and selected market sources. Each reading retains its series identity, observation period, source and retrieval context.
EconomyIntel separates evidence, calculation, classification and interpretation so readers can distinguish source facts from analytical conclusions. This document explains the discipline governing that process without publishing the proprietary rules that make the system reproducible.
EconomyIntel is not a single model and it is not an automated summary of data releases. It is a layered analytical system designed to preserve provenance, apply consistent reasoning and make uncertainty visible.
Published observations are collected from primary official sources and selected market sources. Each reading retains its series identity, observation period, source and retrieval context.
Inputs are checked for expected units, dates, continuity and plausible movement. Missing, late, provisional or revised observations are identified rather than silently replaced.
Validated readings are translated into comparable signals and evaluated together across economic transmission channels. Defined rules support repeatable health, regime, scenario and confidence assessments.
Structured outputs are translated into plain-English implications. AI assistance is bounded by the evidence and analytical outputs; it does not replace the source record or the calculation layer.
EconomyIntel prefers primary Australian statistical and policy sources, including the Australian Bureau of Statistics and Reserve Bank of Australia. Selected market and financial series are used where they describe transmission conditions not captured by official releases.
Source selection reflects relevance, continuity, publication quality and the role of the series in the wider economic system—not the direction of its latest movement.
Where available, public readings identify the source, series, observation period, retrieval date and expected next release. Freshness states distinguish current evidence from an update that is due, stale or awaiting revision.
Unavailable data is shown as unavailable. It is not silently replaced with an older sample observation.
Raw observations differ in units, frequency, direction and economic meaning. EconomyIntel converts them into interpretable signals, then reads those signals through the channels by which economic conditions propagate.
Output, demand, momentum and the breadth of expansion or contraction.
Inflation level, persistence, breadth and the balance between goods and services.
Employment, unemployment, participation, hours, wages and labour-market slack.
Income, consumption, credit, debt service, confidence and financial stress.
Conditions, confidence, investment, costs, margins and hiring intentions.
Prices, finance, construction, supply and interest-rate transmission.
Monetary settings, credit conditions, markets and financial transmission.
Trade, commodity prices, the exchange rate and global demand conditions.
Series are evaluated in a form appropriate to their behaviour—for example level, rate of change, momentum, persistence or deviation from a reference condition. Direction is economically contextual: a rise is not automatically good and a fall is not automatically bad.
Signal states communicate whether conditions are strong, stable, under watch, stressed or critical. Tipping points are treated as evidence that the balance of risks may be changing, not as mechanical predictions that an outcome must occur.
A regime describes the prevailing configuration of activity, inflation, labour conditions, policy transmission and financial stress. Classification considers the joint pattern, its persistence and the degree of agreement across related signals.
A regime can change even when no single release appears decisive, because the system is designed to detect changes in the balance and interaction of evidence.
Scenarios are conditional pathways from the current state. Their probabilities express the relative support in the available evidence and are recalculated as conditions change. They are not guarantees, target prices or personalised forecasts.
EconomyIntel distinguishes the base case from upside and downside pathways and identifies evidence that would strengthen or weaken each case.
A plausible conclusion can still rest on incomplete, conflicting or revision-prone evidence. EconomyIntel therefore reports confidence as a separate analytical layer.
Whether the expected evidence set is present and usable.
Whether observations are current relative to their normal publication cadence.
Whether related indicators point in a coherent direction or conflict.
Whether the assessment is stable across inputs and successive observation periods.
How much provisional data or known revision risk could change the current reading.
Confidence measures evidence quality and coherence. It does not mean a scenario has the stated probability of being “correct,” and it does not eliminate model risk.
Where EconomyIntel calculates structured scores and classifications, defined rules are applied to the same input set to support repeatability and consistent interpretation over time.
Generative AI may assist with evidence-grounded narration and synthesis after structured assessment. It is governed as an interpretation layer, not treated as an independent economic source.
Official statistics may be revised. New source observations are retained with their observation context, and affected assessments may be recalculated rather than preserving an obsolete conclusion.
Material errors are corrected promptly. The publication date, evidence context and methodology version provide the basis for understanding why a later assessment may differ.
Material changes to the analytical architecture, interpretation framework or governance approach will produce a new methodology version. Editorial clarifications that do not change analytical behaviour may be incorporated without changing the major version.
EconomyIntel publishes the analytical architecture, evidence standards and governance needed to assess the integrity of its work. The precise machinery that would allow the system to be reproduced remains proprietary.
The quality of the work should be judged by its evidence, provenance, internal consistency, revision discipline and analytical record.
